Green Tree Pythons
Nutrition
Green Tree Pythons generally feed on pinky mice as neonates, progressing to an appropriate sized mouse as they grow.
My adult breeders are feeding on frozen/thawed Jumbo mice.
Some feed rats but I've had the best luck with adult mice and have experienced very few issues
Habitat
Green Tree Pythons originate from New Guinea/Irian Jaya and surrounding islands, so mainly a humid jungle island environment with temps around 86 daytime with a slight temp drop at night.
Captive specimens should have a gradient with 86 on the hot end. Depending on where you live you should maintain adequate humidity levels by spraying the enclosure. I spray at night and allow the cage to completely dry before spraying again, usually a day or two.
Well-Being
Green Tree Pythons are a very
impressive animal to keep. They are a very good display animal due to they're being an arboreal species; their electric green colors and propensity to stay perched for hours in the same spot, makes them ideal for hours of viewing.
The myth about them is they are an animal for the advanced keeper, but I have found that like any other snake if you meet their needs with proper husbandry, it doesn't take a whole lot for them to thrive

A beautiful Chondro imported from Bushmasters. Not much was known about her except that she was around 5 years old and apparently never bred

Another striking image of this great Chondro

This was a Chondro purchased from Arboreal Specialties. Very beautiful black markings usually characterized in Highland types. Also a lot of blue on the dorsal and sides.

This was an "Arubiak" purchased from clockwork Reptiles. Very large "salt-like" blotches all over the body. She also has some blue tail and Yellow scattered throughout

A Tim Morris Blue line aru type chondro. His lineage dates back to the first Chondro imported by Trooper Walsh. He also is related to and has numerous "Blue chondro" genes

a male Biak/Kofiau cross

A solid green male not typical of this morph. They usually have a white dorsal "stripe" made up of synchronous white scales on the back ridge
